IP Relay HWg-ER02b kết nối một cổng nối tiếp RS-232/485 đầy đủ và một bộ gồm hai đầu vào kỹ thuật số và hai đầu ra kỹ thuật số với Ethernet. IP Relay HWg-ER02b có một cổng nối tiếp RS-232 thực sự đầy đủ (9 chân). Cổng nối tiếp của thiết bị có thể được kết nối với PC qua mạng LAN, với cổng nối tiếp có thể truy cập trong Windows dưới dạng Cổng nối tiếp ảo (VSP). Các đầu vào và đầu ra kỹ thuật số của nó có thể được điều khiển qua Web hoặc thông qua Modbus/TCP.
Một máy chủ web tích hợp được sử dụng để cấu hình. Sử dụng ứng dụng HW VSP3 miễn phí, có thể kết nối tới 100 cổng nối tiếp từ xa với một PC.
Có thể kết nối hai thiết bị ở chế độ Box-2-Box. Ở chế độ này, I/O kỹ thuật số cũng như đường truyền nối tiếp RS232/485 được mở rộng (đào đường hầm) qua mạng LAN

Applications and usage:
- Link two buttons/switches to a SW application.
- Connect your RS-232 devices to your LAN – barcode / RFID scanners, serial printers, displays.
- The remote relay output can, for example, open a door, turn on a horn, or disconnect power. It can be used also as web relay.
- I/O can be controlled over Modbus/TCP from any SCADA system, independently of the serial line.
- Remote power switch (power control) can switch 230/110V AC directly.
- Connecting a RFID reader over a LAN + remote reset of associated equipment
- Connecting a barcode reader over the Ethernet + controlling DI and DO in an application
